許莊學姊具有中國人的固有倫理道德覌念。唸完研究所之後、就任職於Wayne county community college。由於喜愛寫作,所以多年後又一邊上班、一邊回學校進修取得英文寫作碩士。從WCC 退休後又 part time 於Laurence tech.教 creative writing. 直到年老自覺體力不足。
她教學認真又熱心,花很多心力在學生身上,所以頗受學生們的敬愛。退休後仍然継續她的創作並參加 (英文)寫作協會(成員多為教師、教授、記者、報紙及雜誌的編輯等英文寫作高手)。她的詩及文章頗受佳評!
她曾説;當她第一次去參加寫作協會時,大家都用軽視的異樣眼光看着她、她心想「我一定要為中國人爭光」。第二次再去時,當衆讀過她的詩作後,大家都吃了一驚!
近年來由於她得了肺癌、葯物對身體產生了嚴重的副作用,為了分散及忘記身體的不適,她更努力於英文創作, 而且常有佳作發表,篇篇創作都受到寫作學會會友們的讃賞,同時她自己也從寫作中得到不少的樂趣。她的堅毅、勇氣、與努力真是我們的典範呀!
